AHMED TIFACHI

Ahmad Ibn Youssef Ibn Ahmad Ibn Abubaker Tifashi. He was Algerian by birth (the region of Tifash, north of Constantine). Born in 1184 (C.E), Gafsa, Tunisia. After studying at Zitouna and Al-Azhar, he made a long journey across the Arab Mashriq. Back home he was appointed a judge (Cadhi). Following a second journey in the Mashriq, he decided to settle down in Egypt where he died in 1257 C.E. His major works are:
- Fasl Al-Khitab, a 40 book encyclopedia;
- Ad-Dorra Alfaiqa fi mahacen Al-Afariqa;
- Sajwu Al-hadil fi Akhbar An-Nil;
- Nozhatu Al-ahbab fi ma la yujadu fi kitab.
