M.T BEN ACHOUR

Was born in Tunis in 1877 (C.E). He attended the Zitouna Mosque and later taught in the same establishment as well as at the Sadiki College. He was appointed Judge, then Mufti, and later Rector of the Great Mosque (the Zitouna) and its relevant establishments.
He is renowned for his extensive research and scholarship in the Arab language and Islamic studies. He notably supervised the educational reform at the Zitouna Mosque. He died in 1973 (C.E). His major works are: At-Tahrir wa At-Tanwir, Maqasid As-Sari’a, and Alaysa Assubhu bi Qaribin.
